The Sudanese Journalists’ Syndicate has documented 673 violations against journalists since the outbreak of the war up to 30 June 2026.
In a statement, the syndicate said the violations included the killing of 34 journalists, 116 cases of arrest, detention and enforced disappearance, 120 cases of threats and hate speech, and 34 cases of direct targeting and gunfire. They also included 64 cases of legal prosecution and 47 complaints filed under cybercrime laws.
The syndicate further reported five cases of enforced disappearance in which the whereabouts of the individuals concerned remain unknown.
It called for independent investigations, an end to legal prosecutions targeting journalists, and the repeal of legal provisions that restrict press freedom.
