Hunger Kills 13 in Sudanese Refugee Camp in Chad

Monitoring – Mashawir

The Sudanese Doctors Network stated in a press release on Saturday morning that Sudanese refugees in the “Gaga” camp in Chad are suffering from catastrophic humanitarian conditions due to a lack of food and medicine, with diseases spreading amid the neglect of international and humanitarian organizations and their failure to provide sufficient food supplies.

The network revealed that 13 people died of hunger over the past week, posing a serious threat to the lives of thousands of Sudanese refugees in the camp.

The network appealed to international and UN organizations to fulfill their direct responsibility for the camps by urgently providing food aid to Sudanese refugees in the “Gaga” camp, which hosts 21,000 Sudanese refugees, to prevent further displacement into the unknown in search of food and medicine.

The network also expressed its deep regret over the deteriorating conditions of Sudanese refugees in Chad and criticized the international community’s neglect of the displaced Sudanese, asserting that the current situation exposes the failure of organizations that cite border access as an excuse for not delivering aid, despite the suffering of thousands of Sudanese in refugee camps across Chad.
