United Nations: Surge in Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in Sudan
Mashawir - Follow-ups

Acting UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Christine Hambroek, expressed solidarity with survivors of sexual violence in the country.
In a statement marking the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, Hambroek said that as Sudan enters its third year of devastating conflict, there are increasingly alarming reports of conflict-related sexual violence, particularly targeting women and girls through rape, sexual slavery, abduction, and other brutal forms of abuse.
The UN coordinator emphasized the urgent need to provide comprehensive, survivor-centered services to help rebuild the lives of victims. She also reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to prioritizing the rights of survivors and continuing its support for Sudanese organizations.
