El-Fasher Resistance Committees: Urgent Intervention Needed to Ensure Civilians’ Survival

A statement from the Coordination of Resistance Committees in El-Fasher highlighted the urgent need for swift intervention to deliver essential supplies and find sustainable solutions to restore stability and ensure the survival of the population amid a critical humanitarian situation.

The statement noted that markets are facing severe shortages of basic goods due to supply disruptions and the lack of stability.

It added that the collapse of the national currency and the scarcity of resources have significantly impacted the prices of essential commodities, making them unaffordable for the vast majority of citizens.

“Even when some goods are available, the lack of liquidity prevents people from making purchases, further deepening the humanitarian crisis,” the statement continued.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are reportedly attempting to seize the last remaining stronghold of central authority in the Darfur region. For over a year, they have launched repeated attacks on El-Fasher—the historical capital of Darfur—but the army and its allies have continued to repel these offensives.
