The Emergency Room at Abu Shouk Camp for displaced persons in El Fasher reported that more than 45 people were killed during June due to continuous artillery shelling targeting the camp, as residents face dire humanitarian and security conditions.
In a statement, the Emergency Room revealed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued shelling the camp, resulting in dozens of deaths and the destruction of civilian homes.
It confirmed that the current week saw an escalation in the intensity of shelling, leading to further loss of life and property.
Camp residents are suffering from a complete lack of basic services, as some communal kitchens have shut down and the distribution of food baskets has stopped, amid severe shortages of essential goods in the markets. This has led to a sharp deterioration in living conditions, with people facing critical shortages of healthcare, food, and water, in addition to the absence of security.
The intensification of fighting between the warring parties has further worsened the humanitarian crisis in the region, with little to no adequate intervention from international organizations due to the deteriorating security situation and lack of access to affected areas.
