Medical sources and activists in El Fasher have confirmed that at least 70 people, including around 14 women, have been killed over the past five weeks as a result of artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting Abu Shouk camp and other locations, including underground shelters.
According to the El Fasher Resistance Committees Coordination, the city has witnessed intense clashes on the southern front.
For months, the RSF has been attempting to seize El Fasher, the last state capital in the Darfur region still under the control of the central government, amid fierce resistance from the Sudanese Armed Forces and a joint force composed of armed struggle movements.
This military escalation comes amid a dire humanitarian situation, as the RSF has laid siege to the city for nearly a year, causing severe shortages of food and medicine.
