UNICEF Calls for Independent Investigation into Sudan War Violations and Accountability for Perpetrators
Reports – Mashawir

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed that the death toll from attacks on villages in Bara locality, North Kordofan State, has risen to more than 450 civilians, including at least 24 boys, 11 girls, and two pregnant women.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell condemned these attacks as disgraceful, describing them as a terrifying escalation of violence and a complete disregard for human life and international humanitarian law.
She expressed concern that the number of child victims could rise further, given the dozens injured and many others still missing.
Russell’s statement urged all parties to the conflict to end the violence and honor their obligations under international law and the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precaution. It also stressed the need for an independent investigation into the violations and for holding those responsible accountable.
