Release of Women Arrested After Protesting Hunger in Kadugli

Reports – Mashawir

Authorities in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State, have released six women hours after detaining them for participating in protests over the worsening economic situation.

Residents are facing severe humanitarian and living crises amid a shortage of food and medicine.

People in Kadugli are forced to wait for long hours to obtain a small amount of sorghum due to a poor harvest, with fears of total depletion under the ongoing siege of the city.

Dozens of women organized a peaceful protest carrying signs that read “Kadugli is Dying” before security forces quickly moved in and arrested them.
