Rising Complaints of Security Breakdown in Omdurman and Port Sudan as Gold Traders Launch Open-Ended Strike
Reports – Mashawir

Complaints over the deteriorating security situation in Omdurman and Port Sudan have intensified following a surge in recent incidents.
Two people were killed in Omdurman this month during an armed robbery.
The Khartoum State Police carried out security campaigns targeting certain areas, resulting in the confiscation of unlicensed weapons and motorcycles.
Meanwhile, gold traders in Omdurman have launched an open-ended strike in protest against an armed robbery targeting one of their colleagues, Omar Mohamed, owner of “Al-Shalal” Gold Store on Al-Wadi Street.
The incident occurred on Sunday when the store owner arrived at his home in Al-Shati neighborhood, Karari locality, north of Omdurman, at around 9 p.m. carrying more than a kilogram of gold. While waiting to open the gate to bring his car inside, he was surrounded by gunmen armed with automatic rifles, dressed in military uniforms, and driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle equipped with an RPG launcher.
The assailants shot at the car’s tires and took the shop owner to an area west of Al-Harat, where they abandoned him after stealing all the gold he was carrying.
