Accusations Against the Rapid Support Forces of Using Starvation to Empty El Fasher of Its Population

Reports – Mashawir

The Minister of Health in the Darfur Regional Government, Babiker Hamdeen, accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of using starvation as a weapon to depopulate the city and take control of it.

Hamdeen appealed to UN and humanitarian organizations to pressure the militias to lift the siege on El Fasher.

He described the situation in the city as catastrophic due to the deliberate destruction of service facilities and hospitals by the RSF, along with severe shortages of medicines and the difficulty of delivering supplies. In addition, the prolonged blockade has caused skyrocketing prices of basic commodities, with a sack of sorghum now costing about 3,000 Sudanese pounds (around 1,000 USD on the parallel market), creating an acute humanitarian and food crisis.
