UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk emphasized the importance of comprehensive accountability measures to achieve justice and prevent impunity for crimes and violations in Sudan.
During his meeting with Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamed, Türk highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner in Sudan.
Sudan’s representative in Geneva explained that the international community’s leniency toward the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has emboldened them to show contempt for all international and UN resolutions and appeals, including the humanitarian truce proposed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres regarding the situation in El Fasher, which the government accepted but the RSF rejected.
