Kidney Patients Block National Highway in Port Sudan Over Halted Dialysis Sessions

Social media platforms circulated a video showing a group of kidney failure patients blocking a main road in Port Sudan in protest against the suspension of dialysis sessions caused by frequent power outages.

The city’s dialysis center has been suffering from electricity cuts and fuel shortages, leading to prolonged service interruptions.

Earlier, patients had staged protests inside and outside the center, demanding that the Ministry of Health provide additional dialysis machines and essential medical supplies.

The center serves more than 325 patients weekly, including displaced people from conflict areas, which has further strained its equipment and services.
