MSF: Sudanese Facing Worst Cholera Outbreak in Years

Mashawir – Agencies

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) announced on Thursday that at least 40 people have died in Sudan’s Darfur region amid the country’s worst cholera outbreak in years, as the war continues for more than two years.

In a statement, the organization said:

> “In addition to a full-scale war, the people of Sudan are now facing the worst cholera outbreak the country has seen in years.”

It added:

> “In Darfur alone, MSF teams have treated more than 2,300 patients and recorded 40 deaths over the past week.”

Several cities and regions in Sudan are witnessing the spread of cholera amid the collapse of healthcare services and shortages of medicines and intravenous fluids.
