A Sudanese legal group on Sunday called for an urgent, independent international investigation into allegations that the Sudanese army used chlorine gas or other toxic chemical agents in military operations inside Sudan, and urged that available evidence and information be examined in accordance with international standards.
In a press statement, the Emergency Lawyers Group said it was deeply concerned by published reports and investigations alleging that the army used toxic chlorine gas, particularly reports concerning incidents around the Al-Jaili Oil Refinery north of Khartoum in September 2024.
Meanwhile, the Tasis Alliance said that the army was still preparing to use additional chemical weapons.
