The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that, for the first time in over nine months, it has successfully delivered supplies to the cities of Dilling and Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, reaching more than 120,000 vulnerable people.
A statement from the organization said the arrival of these supplies represents a vital achievement for thousands of children and families who have been isolated since October of last year due to the ongoing war.
Residents of both cities, including children, are living in dire humanitarian conditions as a result of the blockade.
According to the statement, the convoy carried water supplies, pumps, generators, essential health and education materials, sanitation equipment, and ready-to-use therapeutic food, enough to cover the needs of the targeted areas for more than six months.
