Sudanese Army Evacuates Residents Trapped by Gash River Floods in Kassala

Mashawir – Reports

The Sudanese Army Air Force evacuated residents of several villages that were surrounded by floods and rising waters from the Gash River in Kassala State, eastern Sudan.

The seasonal rise in the Gash River’s water levels has isolated and trapped hundreds of families in the Tandalay area, north of Kassala city.

The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources issued a warning to citizens and local authorities about the risk of sudden flash floods expected in nine states: Northern State, River Nile, Gezira, North Kordofan, North Darfur, West Darfur, White Nile, Sennar, and Kassala.

The ministry urged citizens and local officials to exercise caution, stay alert, and promptly report any incidents of flooding and their scale.
