The city of Kadugli, capital of South Kordofan State, has received its share of humanitarian aid for children after nearly a year-long absence.
The aid, delivered by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), includes 4,200 cartons containing medicines and nutritional supplies for malnourished children, in addition to other dietary supplements.
According to activists, these supplies are expected to provide significant relief, especially amid a severe shortage of medicines, IV fluids, and child nutrition, which has forced some health facilities to shut down.
The organization highlighted that South Kordofan is home to more than 63,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition, including over 10,000 children with severe acute malnutrition, the deadliest form of the condition.
