The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that acute malnutrition levels have surpassed the emergency threshold in 80% of areas where nutrition surveys were conducted.
According to a UNICEF report based on nutrition and mortality surveys carried out between January and July, more than 60% of the surveyed areas recorded acute malnutrition rates above the emergency threshold.
The report highlighted that 80% of surveyed areas in Darfur, particularly in North Darfur, have exceeded the emergency threshold for acute malnutrition.
The findings also indicate that the nutritional and health situation is deteriorating, with the number of children suffering from acute malnutrition rising to 315,454, representing a 48.4% increase in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.
