The United Nations mission: “Rapid Support Forces committed crimes against humanity in El Fasher”

Follow-ups – Mashawir

The United Nations fact-finding mission said on Friday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) committed multiple crimes against humanity during their siege of the city of El Fasher in the Darfur region of western Sudan.

The mission reported that both the Sudanese army and the RSF carried out atrocities, including widespread war crimes, during the civil war, now in its third year.

Mohamed Chande Othman, head of the mission, stated in a press release: “The RSF committed further crimes against humanity, including killings, sexual violence, gender-based violence, looting, and the destruction of livelihoods on a large scale, which at times reached the level of persecution and genocide.”
