UN Measures in Anticipation of a Repeat of the Tarsin Disaster in Neighboring Villages
Reports – Mashawir

In response to the humanitarian appeal following the landslide in Tarsin village, Jebel Marra, Darfur, several international organizations arrived in the area to assess the disaster, evaluate the situation left by the landslide, and assist in recovering bodies still trapped under the rubble.
Mohamed Abdelrahman Al-Nayer, head of the media sector and spokesperson for the Sudan Liberation Movement (Abdelwahid Mohamed Nour faction), explained that delegations from Save the Children UK, Islamic Relief Worldwide, the Danish Refugee Council, and Solidarités International reached the area after a difficult journey on foot and by pack animals that took hours due to rough terrain and heavy rains.
Al-Nayer noted that these humanitarian organizations brought with them some shelter supplies and materials for residents displaced from neighboring villages near the landslide area, in anticipation of a possible repeat of the Tarsin disaster.
