Hamdok Discusses Mechanisms to End the War with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission

Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, head of the “Sumood” (Resilience) Alliance, said that he met today (Friday) in Abu Dhabi with Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and discussed the Sudanese crisis resulting from the devastating war and its catastrophic humanitarian impact on the Sudanese people, stressing the urgent need to end the war as soon as possible.

Hamdok explained that he presented to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission the Sumood vision for halting and ending the war. The meeting also addressed the expected role of the African Union in stopping the conflict and achieving peace and stability in Sudan.

For his part, the Chairperson of the Commission affirmed that there can be no military solution to the conflict, stressing that the African Union is exerting every effort to achieve peace through a credible political process.
