Sudan: Warnings Issued to Citizens in the North Over Expected Nile Floods
Monitoring – Mashawir

The Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has warned residents living along the banks of the Nile River in northern Sudan about rising water levels.
The ministry indicated that water levels at the Khartoum and Shendi stations have reached flood stage, noting that “the states of River Nile, White Nile, and Khartoum have now reached flood levels.”
Over the past two days, floods have displaced dozens of families in villages north of Khartoum Bahri city.
Major General Qirshi Hussein, Assistant Director of Civil Defense for Technical Affairs, Emergencies, and Disasters, stated that “the damages caused by the Nile River floods have so far been limited to the agricultural sector in the states of Sennar, Gezira, and Khartoum, where loss assessments are currently underway.”
The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation also confirmed a rapid decline in Nile water levels in the stretch between Roseires in the Blue Nile region and Khartoum.
