Health Ministry: Unprecedented Decline in Mosquito Population in Khartoum

The Ministry of Health in Khartoum State has confirmed a significant decrease in the number of mosquitoes that transmit malaria and dengue fever, as a result of the national vector control campaign being carried out by the Federal Ministry of Health in cooperation with the state government.

The Director of the Department of Vector Control, Hamza Al-Jak, stated that entomological surveys have shown a major drop in mosquito density.

Meanwhile, field inspection teams continue their work as part of the second phase of operations.

For her part, Dr. Adeeba Ibrahim, member of the Preliminary Committee of the Sudanese Doctors’ Syndicate, warned that the health situation in the East Nile area could lead to an imminent epidemic outbreak unless urgent measures and an immediate response are taken by the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities.
