Sudan Doctors: Targeting Health Facilities Is a War Crime and a Clear Violation of Humanitarian Law

Reports – Mashawir

The Sudan Doctors Network confirmed the killing of a nurse and the injury of three others as a result of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shelling of El-Fasher Hospital, while they were performing their humanitarian duty of treating the wounded and providing healthcare to civilians.

In its statement, the network described the targeting of hospitals and health facilities as a war crime and a clear violation of international humanitarian law, noting that it represents a continuation of the series of assaults carried out by the RSF against civilians and the health sector in Darfur.

The network called on the international community to take urgent and immediate action to protect civilians in El-Fasher, who are being bombarded daily and intensively since the early morning hours with various types of guided missiles.

It also urged the World Health Organization (WHO) to assume its responsibilities in protecting medical personnel and health facilities, which have become direct targets of repeated RSF attacks.
