The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) announced that five volunteers from the Sudanese Red Crescent were killed while performing their duties in Bara, North Kordofan State, while three others remain missing.
In a statement, the Federation said it was clear that the victims were humanitarian workers, as they were wearing Red Crescent vests that should have fully protected them and were carrying identification cards issued by the local branch of the organization.
The statement added that “any attack on humanitarian teams is unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, accusations against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have intensified, with reports alleging widespread violations against civilians in El Fasher, three days after the group announced full control of the strategic city in western Sudan.
Disturbing reports — supported by satellite imagery — have emerged, evoking memories of the darkest periods in the history of the Darfur region.
