The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has estimated, through its Displacement Tracking Program, that between 24,000 and 26,000 people have been displaced from various locations in the Umm Dam Hajj Ahmed locality in North Kordofan State, following the deterioration of security conditions after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the area.
According to the organization’s latest update, these new displacements come after previous waves of population movements in recent days from the Rahaad, Bara, and Umm Rawaba localities.
Further population movements are expected toward Al-Duwaim in White Nile State and Omdurman in Khartoum State, as people continue to flee the violence.
Survivors who arrived in El-Obeid on foot described horrific scenes from Bara, saying the situation there is “out of control”, with reports of killings and systematic executions—the worst violence the city has witnessed since the war began.
