The Sudanese Ministry of Health has confirmed the killing of 12 medical personnel by members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Bara, North Kordofan State, following the group’s recent takeover of the area.
In an official statement, the ministry said that seven medical staff working with the Kuwaiti Patients’ Aid Society and five health workers affiliated with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society were killed in separate attacks carried out by RSF militias in Bara.
Pro-RSF social media accounts had earlier circulated a video showing Red Crescent volunteers being assaulted by an RSF officer who accused them of collaborating with the army.
The Sudanese Red Crescent Society later announced that five of its volunteers were killed and three others went missing while on a humanitarian mission in Bara.
