Authorities in Sudan’s North Kordofan State announced on Friday that two people were killed and 20 others injured in attacks they said targeted a camp for internally displaced people, as well as fuel stations and civilian sites in the state.
The state government condemned the attacks, describing them as a “violation of international humanitarian law,” and accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of being behind them.
Jamaa Al-Mahdi Jamaa, spokesperson for the North Kordofan State government, said that “targeting shelters for internally displaced people exacerbates the suffering of civilians who have sought refuge there in search of safety,” affirming that the state government would continue working to protect citizens and secure civilian facilities.
Jamaa added that “the government calls on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their responsibilities by condemning and documenting these crimes and holding those responsible accountable.”
