Egypt has stressed the importance of the international community fulfilling its humanitarian responsibilities to ensure the provision of safe havens and adequate humanitarian corridors in Sudan, in order to deliver humanitarian aid without obstacles.
During a phone call today (Saturday), Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty briefed his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, on Egypt’s efforts within the framework of the Quadrilateral Mechanism aimed at pushing toward a comprehensive ceasefire.
Abdelatty reaffirmed, during the call, Egypt’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, as well as the preservation of its national institutions.
According to the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tamim Khallaf, the two ministers exchanged views and assessments on a number of regional developments, foremost among them the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty also emphasized the importance of international efforts coming together to ensure the consolidation of the ceasefire agreement and the transition to the arrangements of the second phase of U.S. President Trump’s plan.
