The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces “Sumud” held a high-level meeting this afternoon (Tuesday) in the British capital, London. The meeting brought together the British Minister of State for International Development, Baroness Jenny Chapman, and the Norwegian State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Andreas Kravik, with a delegation from the alliance headed by Dr. Abdalla Hamdok.
The “Sumud” delegation included the Chairman of the Alliance’s Foreign Relations Committee, Babikir Faisal, and a member of the Alliance’s UK office, Dr. Suad Mustafa.
The meeting addressed ways to bring peace to Sudan and the anticipated roles of Britain and Norway. Both nations have remained at the forefront of supporting Sudan’s security and stability, advocating for a civil-democratic transition that guarantees freedoms and human rights.
* International Coordination: The British and Norwegian sides emphasized close coordination with various peace initiatives, particularly the “Quartet” initiative.
* Humanitarian Concerns: They expressed hope for an urgent humanitarian truce to pave the way for a peaceful political solution to end the conflict in Sudan.
* A Three-Pillar Approach: Dr. Hamdok’s delegation stressed the importance of tightening international coordination and integrating the three tracks of the peace process:
1. A ceasefire.
2. The humanitarian track.
3. Political dialogue.
The delegation underscored the necessity of investigating all violations and crimes committed against the Sudanese people and holding those responsible accountable. Finally, the delegation expressed its appreciation to Britain and Norway for their warm reception and their ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
