Al-Takaya and free kitchens .. a refuge for displaced Sudanese during Ramadan

White Nile - Mashaweer

Many displaced people in Sudan have resorted to “Al-Takaya” and free charitable kitchens to solve the food crisis during the month of Ramadan, especially those fleeing the hell of fighting in Kordofan and Darfur.

Displaced families are suffering from extremely difficult humanitarian conditions as the war continues, particularly after financial savings have run out and daily work has stopped, along with market chaos and worsening inflation.

Thousands of displaced people in the cities of El Obeid, Kosti, and Rabak rely on meals of beans and lentils, in addition to “Balila,” to satisfy their hunger during Ramadan.

Volunteers working in these kitchens told the “Mashawir” platform that during Ramadan, thousands of displaced people depend on these kitchens to provide daily meals.

They added: “These kitchens have become a refuge for those facing difficulty obtaining food due to the current situation, reflecting the urgent need for humanitarian aid during this critical period.”
