The French Embassy in Sudan expressed its concern regarding the arrest of several female journalists by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
It called on all parties to the conflict in Sudan to cease arbitrary arrests targeting human rights defenders, journalists, and humanitarian activists providing assistance to civilians.
Last week, the RSF arrested several women and media professionals in the city of Nyala.
According to sources, the arrests took place during a workshop organized by Female Journalists for Peace and Natakallam in cooperation with the Sudan Women’s Development Organization on March 1.
Approximately 25 people participated in the workshop, which discussed women’s rights in international conventions and national laws, specifically UN Resolution 1325.
