United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the killing of at least 60 people, including children and health workers, in a drone strike targeting Ed Daein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur State.
Guterres called on the warring parties to agree to a cessation of hostilities and to work with mediators, including his personal envoy, to return to the negotiating table to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement and conduct a comprehensive and inclusive Sudanese-led political process.
United Nations officials said today (Tuesday) that the death toll from the Ed Daein hospital attack has risen to 70, including women, children, and paramedics, as more bodies are recovered from under the rubble.
The World Health Organization stated that Ed Daein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur State was bombed on March 20, but it did not specify the party responsible for the attack.
