United Nations: More than 500 civilians killed by drones in Sudan over 45 days

Geneva - Mashaweer

The United Nations announced today (Tuesday) that more than 500 civilians were killed by drone strikes in Sudan between January and mid-March, with most of them dying in the strategic Kordofan region.

Marta Hurtado, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, told reporters in Geneva that the significant increase in the use of drones to carry out airstrikes in Sudan this year highlights the devastating impact of sophisticated technology and relatively inexpensive weapons in populated areas.

She added that according to the information received, more than 500 civilians were killed in strikes of this type from January 1st to March 15th.
