The European Union renewed its commitment to the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Sudan, rejecting any attempts to form a parallel government that could lead to the country’s division.
It added that it seeks to prevent the Sudan crisis from escalating into a regional war, reiterating its call on Sudanese parties to engage in negotiations aimed at achieving an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
The EU also expressed readiness to support a unified peace initiative, including options for international monitoring mechanisms.
It stressed that external actors must immediately stop fueling the conflict in Sudan.
The statement further called for expanding the mandate of the International Criminal Court and extending the UN arms embargo to cover all of Sudan.
The bloc affirmed it would use all available means—including diplomacy and sanctions—to push for peace, while supporting the aspirations of the Sudanese people for democratic governance.
