U.S. House of Representatives Escalates on Sudan, Condemns Both Sides of the War

Washington – Mashawir

The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee approved a resolution condemning attacks on civilians in Sudan and calling for a negotiated solution to end the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The resolution was introduced by Representatives Pramila Jayapal and Sara Jacobs, and passed with a vote of 44 to 2, receiving bipartisan support from both Republicans and Democrats.

The resolution condemned both sides of the conflict, noting that the U.S. State Department had concluded that both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF committed documented war crimes.

The resolution also calls for an official condemnation of the crisis, urges the provision of security and protection for the Sudanese people, and demands an end to external material support provided to the warring parties by outside actors.
