Displacement Waves Intensify in Kordofan Amid Deteriorating Humanitarian Conditions

The Humanitarian Aid Commission in North Kordofan State announced that the state capital, El Obeid, received more than 30,000 people who were displaced by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from areas in western and southern parts of the state over a period of just five days.

State Commissioner Mohamed Ismail said the commission had begun providing essential humanitarian assistance to civilians in areas along the western export road, which the army recently recaptured.

Ismail revealed that the number of displaced people currently in El Obeid ranges between 1.2 and 1.3 million, adding that they are in urgent need of various forms of humanitarian assistance.

Meanwhile, field displacement tracking teams affiliated with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimated that around 11,000 people were displaced from the areas of Umm Sumayma and Abu Haraz in Sheikan locality, North Kordofan, between August 16 and 18, due to worsening insecurity.
