A total of 155 displaced boys and girls from El Fasher, currently staying at the Al-Affad displacement shelter in Ed-Dabba locality, Northern State, have begun sitting for their primary school certificate examinations, continuing their education despite the difficult conditions imposed by the war and displacement.
The students are taking their exams at Abdulrahman Sulukab Primary School, as efforts continue to ensure the continuity of education for displaced children and enable them to pursue their studies despite the harsh circumstances they experienced during their displacement.
The Sadaqat Charitable Organization, with support from Sadaqat America, has covered transportation costs for the students between the shelter and the examination center throughout the examination period. The initiative aims to ensure that the children can travel safely and attend their exams regularly. The project is estimated to cost about 6.5 million Sudanese pounds.
Northern State volunteer activist Majzoub Mohamed Khair told Mashaweer that “providing transportation for the students is an important intervention to prevent them from dropping out of education, particularly as displacement conditions place additional burdens on families.”
He added that “the children’s continued education and participation in the examinations, despite the difficult circumstances they have endured, reflects displaced families’ determination to uphold their children’s right to education.”
He called for greater support for initiatives that help displaced children continue their education.
Meanwhile, the father of student Rayan Abdullah told Mashaweer that “providing transportation has eased the burden on displaced families of reaching the examination center and helped the children attend regularly and sit for their exams under better conditions.”
He expressed his appreciation to the organizations and individuals who contributed to supporting the students, stressing that continuing education represents an important source of hope for displaced families as they seek to build a better future for their children despite the impact of war and displacement.
