Jusmar Organization in El Obeid is preparing to distribute emergency cash assistance to 100 displaced women and girls at risk of gender-based violence in North Kordofan State. The intervention focuses on individual protection and responding to urgent needs related to safety and access to support services.
The intervention is being implemented with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The registration of beneficiaries has been completed, while the distribution process is scheduled to begin in the coming days in accordance with the mechanisms approved under the project.
In this context, Hawa Idris, a volunteer with the organization, told Mashaweer that “displacement conditions, restricted movement, and economic pressures create additional challenges for women and girls in accessing protection and services.”
She added that “cash assistance is a practical tool within the protection response, enabling beneficiaries to address urgent needs related to their safety, in accordance with the specific circumstances and needs of each individual.”
For his part, Nizar Al-Ajib, an official with UNFPA, told Mashaweer that “this type of intervention is based on the principles of confidentiality, privacy, dignity, non-discrimination, safety, and freedom of choice, while adhering to the ‘do no harm’ principle.”
Al-Ajib stressed that “protecting beneficiaries requires that their names, details of their cases, and any information that could reveal their identities or increase their exposure to risks not be disclosed.”
