Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said on Friday that any threat to Sudan’s security, unity, or sovereignty constitutes a “red line” that Egypt will not allow to be crossed.
The remarks came during a meeting between Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi, ahead of the BRICS Summit scheduled to begin on Saturday, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency’s spokesperson.
The spokesperson said the two presidents discussed the latest developments in Sudan and stressed the need to preserve the country’s sovereignty, unity, and national institutions.
The two leaders also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, foremost among them the Palestinian issue. They affirmed the need to reach a just and comprehensive settlement based on the two-state solution and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
