Volunteers, through the Golo Locality Office in Central Darfur State, distributed water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) supplies to 500 displaced families at Debba Naira Camp, as part of efforts to support the most vulnerable households and improve their health and living conditions.
The distribution was carried out by Al-Wathiqoon Organization for Reconstruction and Development, with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The initiative aimed to help meet the basic needs of displaced families in water, sanitation, and hygiene, while promoting healthy practices and reducing risks associated with deteriorating sanitation and hygiene services.
Haroun Abdullah, a community activist in Central Darfur State, told Mashawir that “providing water, sanitation, and hygiene supplies represents important support for displaced families, given the difficult conditions they face inside the camp and their continued need for basic services.”
He added that “improving water and sanitation services is not limited to providing supplies; it also requires sustained support, rehabilitation of water sources, and greater awareness of healthy practices.”
He called for humanitarian interventions to be expanded to address the growing needs of displaced people.
