Volunteers have warned of the continued influx of displaced families into Tawila locality in North Darfur State, amid deteriorating humanitarian and security conditions in several areas of the Darfur and Kordofan regions.
Field accounts reported the arrival of around 48 newly displaced families, comprising 178 people, in Tawila locality on Friday. Most of the arrivals were women, children, and elderly people who came from various areas across the Darfur and Kordofan regions.
With the arrival of these families, the total number of families who have reached the locality since the beginning of September 2026 has risen to around 402, as displacement continues and pressure increases on the resources and services available to both residents and displaced people.
Abdullah Hassan, a member of the Tawila Emergency Response Room, told Mashawir that “the continued influx of displaced people is placing additional pressure on host communities, at a time when the locality is already facing limited resources and basic services.”
He noted that “the majority of the new arrivals are among the groups most in need of protection and assistance, particularly women, children, and elderly people.”
Hassan added that “displaced families are arriving in difficult conditions and urgently need food, drinking water, shelter supplies, and healthcare.”
He called on humanitarian organizations and supporting agencies to scale up their interventions to keep pace with the continued increase in the number of displaced people.
