The United Nations Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan has warned of escalating risks facing civilians in the city of El Obeid.
The mission documented the expansion of drone warfare, attacks on critical infrastructure, and increasing state repression.
It pointed out that external support has facilitated the growing use of sophisticated weapons systems, particularly long-range drones.
“We found reasonable grounds to believe that a transnational network operating across several countries has enabled and strengthened the military operations of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF),” the mission stated.
It added that investigations into external support for the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) are still ongoing.
