The International Organization for Migration announced that around 4 million people have voluntarily returned to their homes across Sudan.
It warned that these returns may become unsustainable unless urgent investments are made to restore basic services and rebuild infrastructure.
The organization attributed the returns to improved security conditions in some areas, noting that 92 percent of returnees went back to their original locations, while others relocated to nearby areas due to ongoing risks or the destruction of their homes.
According to the report, 1,835,397 people returned to Khartoum, while 1,130,260 returned to Gezira State. The rest were distributed across Sennar State, Blue Nile State, White Nile State, North Kordofan, North Darfur, South Darfur, River Nile State, and Northern State Sudan.
