The United Nations announced on Sunday that a humanitarian aid convoy was completely destroyed in a drone attack while en route to the town of Tawila in North Darfur.
In a statement, the UNHCR said that a truck carrying humanitarian supplies was targeted by a drone on Friday, April 24, in North Darfur.
The agency explained that the truck was transporting emergency shelter materials intended for Tawila, where more than 700,000 displaced people have sought refuge after fleeing violence in other parts of Darfur.
According to the statement, the driver survived the attack without injury. However, the strike caused a fire that completely destroyed the aid supplies on board.
The agency strongly condemned the attack, warning that it will leave approximately 1,314 families in Tawila living in dire conditions without shelter.
