National Initiative: Authorities Prevent a Quarter Million Students from Sitting Sudanese Certificate Exams

Kampala – Mashawir

The National Emergency Initiative to Support Sudanese Certificate Exams revealed that its efforts over the past three months to enable students to sit for exams in their have faltered, due t in Port Sudan. This comes despite a welcoming from the authorities of the “Ta’sis” alliance, who expressed readiness to suspend the parallel exams scheduled for next June in areas under their control.

Shams Dhu Al-Bayt, Director of the Democratic Thought Project, stated during a press conference held اليوم (Thursday) in Kampala, Uganda, that what he described as “separatist and racist currents” within civilian and military institutions in Port Sudan are behind the rejection of the initiative.

He explained that since February, the initiative has conducted intensive communications with authorities in areas controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces. These included official correspondence with a member of the Sovereignty Council, the Prime Minister, several ministers, the Governor of Darfur Region, and figures close to the Sovereignty Council.

In contrast, he noted that the initiative’s communications with authorities in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces were carried out simultaneously, using the same documents and correspondence. These included members of the presidential council of the “Ta’sis” alliance, the Prime Minister, several relevant ministers, and the Governor of Darfur Region.

Dhu Al-Bayt pointed out that approximately a quarter of a million students have been unable to sit for the exams, 65% of whom are female students.
