The Civil Aviation Authority announced on Friday the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) concerning the reopening of Sudanese airspace to international air traffic. Meanwhile, aircraft belonging to Badr Airlines landed at Khartoum International Airport as the first resumption of air traffic since the airport came under drone attacks last Monday.
According to sources at Khartoum Airport, two special flights operated by Badr Airlines landed at the airport on Friday morning.
Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris had stated in a post on the platform X on Thursday that Khartoum International Airport would resume operations starting Saturday, alongside the reopening of Sudanese airspace for flights to and from the country.
Khartoum International Airport was targeted by drone strikes last Monday, forcing the suspension of flights. The Sudanese government quickly accused Ethiopia of providing launch platforms for drones used by the Rapid Support Forces in attacks on several locations in Sudan, including Khartoum Airport.
