The Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Sudan, Pekka Haavisto, concluded a visit to the Gulf region that included Riyadh, Doha, and Abu Dhabi.
Haavisto met with government officials, representatives of Sudanese civil society, and members of the diplomatic corps.
The UN envoy reiterated that there is no military solution to the conflict in Sudan.
He also stressed the urgent need for immediate de-escalation, the protection of civilians, and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those in need.
