Humanitarian Aid Reaches South Kordofan After Siege Is Broken

South Kordofan – Mashawir

The cities of Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan witnessed a significant decline in the prices of consumer goods after the army regained control of the main road leading to the area, allowing food and medical supplies to enter following months of severe shortages.

On Monday, the army ended the siege of Dilling — the second-largest city in South Kordofan — for the third time since the beginning of this year after intense clashes against an alliance of the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu.

The fighting ended with the army and its allies taking control of the town of Al-Takama, located seven kilometers east of Dilling.

Field sources indicated that Kadugli received around 12 trucks loaded with food and medical supplies on Tuesday, marking the first major aid convoy to enter the city since last January.

The arrival of the aid was widely welcomed by residents, who have endured extremely difficult living conditions throughout the past months.
