Training Displaced Women to Improve Livelihoods in Central Darfur

Volunteers conducted practical training at the Al-Hamidiyah displacement camp in Zalingei, Central Darfur State, targeting a number of women from the Al-Hamidiyah and Khamasa Daqa’iq displacement camps. The training focused on the production of solid and liquid soap.

The training was organized as part of the Multi-Aid Project for Crisis Response, which addresses the challenges facing displaced people, refugees and host communities. The project is implemented by Al-Wathiqoon Organization for Reconstruction and Development, in partnership with the International Medical Corps (IMC) and funded by the European Union’s humanitarian aid programme.

Speaking to Mashawir, community activist at Al-Hamidiyah Camp Saddam Alam Al-Din said: “The training aims to strengthen the beneficiaries’ practical skills, support opportunities for self-reliance and income generation, and improve livelihoods.”

He noted that “the training includes practical sessions on the methods and stages involved in producing solid and liquid soap, enabling participants to use the skills they acquire for household purposes or develop them into income-generating activities.”
